Evania appendigaster (Linnaeus, 1758)

host(s)
This species is frequently encountered in cities and therefore has a long list of confirmed, potential, or dubious hosts (see Deans 2005 for summary). E. appendigaster has been reared from Periplaneta americana (Blattidae: Blattinae) and probably P. australasiae. Another potential yet unconfirmed host ootheca for E. appendigaster is Blatta orientalis (Blattidae: Blattinae).
Comments
Evania appendigaster likely originates from the Middle East or South-central Asia and has been dispersed around the world via ships. Today this wasp is found in most urban areas, especially where its prey, Periplaneta cockroaches, can be found.
